So is there an adult group or are we stuck with the "fans" who don't remember Hallman, Archer, DiNardo...etc. etc

bayuborn-
Welcome to the board...and I'm with you on EVERYTHING you said.

There are some voices of reason here, but I'll warn you on the front end...we're in the minority!

I've probably missed fewer than three LSU homegames since the Late '80's (two come to mind)...
I've NEVER left a game early, my theory being if you sit through the bad times, you'll appreciate the good times that much more.

I'm as disappointed as anyone that a NC slipped away from us this year...but based on the history I've witnessed, can't see bitching, moaning, and griping about a 10 win season!

I guess those that jumped on the Bandwagon in '03 are figuring they are being deprived because we've gone 4 years without a NC!

I've sat through enough lean years in tiger stadium to appreciate a 10 win season.

I'm with you, I'd hate to see him go....

When you have 5-7/6-6 a couple times in 4 years, you tend to appreciate the 9-3/10-2 seasons a bit more.

Trust me on this.

I'm indifferent...I've been through any number of coaches as an LSU fan, and I'm sure I'll go through a bunch more.

I mainly clicked on this thread because I really like this pic...

I'd hate to see Miles leave, but wouldn't blame him for heading home to his alma mater......

My views of Pelini have changed drastically over the past few weeks, though. While injuries have played a big part in the breakdown of the defense, I can't agree with his unwillingness to bring pressure through blitz packages.....it's the only thing that could possibly slow down an offense such as Arky, Auburn, Bama, or FL....yet, he refused to do so....unless, of course, Miles was making that decision.

Agreed!
Would love to know what's behind this apparent change...

The Chad Jones blitz in the Bama game was a thing of beauty...I don't know if he's blitzed since that play that essentially won the game.

I know the result would be the same, but had Bo sent everyone on the 4th and 10 in overtime against Arkansas...the loss would be easier to swallow in my opinion!

does anyone here remember the lsu disasters besides me and bayuborn 89-93 (my graduation) and beyond? Les may have his moments of inability to think and talk straight but he is a stud compared to what i suffered through.

I hate to say it, but had Pellini brought the house, and Ar-Kansas dumped a pass again like they did early on and burned us for one of their TDs, people would be bitching about that too. I can hear it now, "Why did we gamble like that!? All we had to do was keep them from going deep, we should have played a safe zone and give them the dump off. Pellini and Miles MUST GO!!! waaah....

By the way Moots, didn't mean that as a knock on your posts. You seem to be reasonable.

bayuborn--how would you rank the hc's from 89 - 07 in ability, not necessarily results?

Duh...head coach. hmmm. well, I was at LSU 86-90, one year of Arnsparger (clearly a real talent and legend of coaching NFL and college) and Archer, may be a smart coach, but wrong guy for the top job. Same with Hallman and DiNardo. Both were perfect for small schools because they had just enough smarts to get more out of the talent they had and had enough tricks to surprise a powerhouse. Remember Hallman had Brett Favre and played a few tricks on FSU (or Miami) when he platooned D units. But neither of those guys had the formula (and brains/talent/well-roundedness) to carry a big program. And none of them really brought in the right coordinators. I mean when your D coach has to teach class in front of 90,000 screaming fans to 18, 19 and 20 year olds on zones against Spurrier et al, you're not really thinking. So that leaves Saban and Miles. Both had the right formula...NFL pedigree, while at smaller schools they successfully recruited against bigger, historic powerhouses (Saban against Mich., ND, OSU, Penn State, etc. and Miles against OK, Texas, A&M, Neb., LSU, Ark, etc....) and beat those schools on the field too. So, in my mind, it is more than Xs and Os. It's can you recruit, run a good program and be competitive. And both Saban and Miles have topped the nation consistently. Look, all you rantards, if you think LSU should be executing like the 07 Patriots, then let's start a petition to join the WAC, Big 12, Pac-10 or Big East, cause no one will ever have a better record in the SEC on any kind of consistent basis than Les Miles (or the LSU Saban). It's not realistic. It is easier to be a bottom dweller than a consistently top SEC team and Miles has delivered. So on all fronts - play calling, recruiting, clean play, game planning, no NCAA violations (so far), ensuring top facilities, Miles and Saban are as good as it can get for LSU. If we lose Miles, we better hope we can get someone as good. Now...that said we're still playing Saban recruits, so the next couple of years really marks the Miles era.

Thought this was worth a bump...

Even though it's sad to realize that 42% of the LSU fans that voted are STUPID!
