I have no idea whether Saban will ultimately stay or go. But spate the talk about how his lying/manipulating/general POS-ness will hurt his ability to recruit. If that was the case, he would not have reeled in top recruiting classes year after year and won all of those c-ships.

Because he and his representation are smart enough to use leverage to get as much money as possible out of Alabama.

Bama probably doesn't know much more than we do about what Nick or his agent are thinking.

Nick and his agent know exactly what their intentions are and therefore are using that knowledge to their advantage.

I cannot fathom how that is such a hard concept to grasp.

If anything, the longer this goes without Nick officially announcing the Texas, the more likely he is to return to Bama. The elapsing of time without commitment to UT actually may diminish his leverage to one extent or another with Bama.

This is exactly right. I get the feeling that a lot of folks here have never negotiated outside of buying a car. And if you have leverage, why would you blow it by making a public announcement, thereby taking UT out of the equation? I don't have any idea what is really going on right now, but this is Negotiation 101.

Agreed.

or Texas. Could be either. We don't know.

You assume there hasn't been a commitment from UT, and we have no way of knowing. Regardless, it still takes awhile to hammer out the details in a contract (with Bama or UT).
