Successful or not, it helps for a first time HC to have former HCs on their staff. Besides, in many cases those former HCs were very successful at some aspect of coaching in the first place to be given the opportunity to become a former HC.

I know that that is thinking a little deeper than you're accustomed to, but read it slowly and it will make sense.

Fuente did this at Memphis, and it worked out very well for him.
