The list of $9m coaches is getting long. Notre Dame would 100% have paid him 9.5m to stay if he asked for it. I think they would have made it a round $10 to be honest.
I do believe Swarbrick when he said that Kelly never asked for anything he couldn't commit to. I think Kelly knew he needed things that had nothing to do with money that ND as a university just could not offer.

I think the $9.5 gave him reason to make the move. I believe he was comfortable at ND.
But LSU did have the upside of recruiting without the strict admission standards that ND had.
