I have read way too much of these posts and I have to say I agree. Saban could have nipped the rumors in the bud immediately - like other coaches have done when their name pops up. Instead, he lets them fly and then magically gets a new deal offered - the likes of which had not been offered during the season. His statement that he and Alabama had been working on this since during the season supports the same. And does anyone really think he was sitting on a $7M a year deal for months?
So he worked Bama and got paid. I think it shows lack of integrity. He worked the best deal he could in March of 12 or 13 (not sure which based on the commentary) based on having own national championships and to now get a new deal based on rumors just shows it isn't about how much they love Alabama, or his team members, or his "process." It is just about money for him.

Sure it is part of the culture of college and professional sports to some degree. But I have to think that some coaches would have handled it differently and better.

You're not suggesting that Saban never considered Texas, are you?

I'm saying he decided months ago that he was not going anywhere. Not just Texas. My source was right. How did yours work out. And put your puppy back in his box. He's peeing all over the board.

I'm sure your source called Saban claiming a $2 million raise was in the works right after he just signed a new contract in March. Nailed it I'm sure.

well Nick Saban in pretty much every appearance has said again and again that he wasn't leaving

so weird internet sources aside there is a record of him constantly telling the media he didn't want to leave

Bama is doing the same thing a MLB team does in giving a monster contract to a pitcher in his mid thirties-paying retroactively for past performance that may not continue. Maybe he'll give you five more great years, or maybe his arm is worn out. You're taking a risk.

People weren't buying it because he did the same thing 2 other times.
