Please no Pelini.
Yeah it's debatable. Saban yells at his kids and he's a coaching god. Pelini does it and he has baggage. End of the day, I hope les stays but a great defense again would be cool. Pelinis defenses were up there with Sabans in terms of yards.

Also a great recruiter is a must. Pelini has a top 15 class on rivals and Nebraska has only 2 three stars and 2 four stars. I'm open to discussing anyone as long as they can close on recruits.

For the record, i hope les stays but i do remember when lsu had a stubborn coach from 2000-2004, brought us back from the dead.
Save your he's stubborn analysis. Every great Coach is.
And every display of stubborness by a LSU coach is met with a less than understanding response by the fanbase.
Doesn't make it right or wrong, but the negatigers need to know what they're getting in Pelini.

Truth is Pelini is in Sabans league in terms of defense and they both are a step up from Chavis. Hire a good OC and the dominance continues
I bet you weren't saying this when our defense went soft in 2007. Saban > Pelini, and Chavis is about equal to Pelini. Chavis is a better LBer coach, but Pelini might be slightly better as a defensive playcaller.

Pelini hire really doesn't make sense. The only thing is he has old connections to LSU. But considering how many spread teams we play, will he be able to stop them? I seem to recall he had severe problems against the spread. I have no idea if he cleaned that up at Nebraska. He also didn't exactly make Nebraska a great program again either. They've had nothing but mediocre seasons since he came. He definitely can't recruit either. I quiver at the thought of 215lb S playing Nicke/Dime slots again on defense against the spread to "help stop the run" as he said it. Can you imagine TM riding the pine at Nickel and him starting Hatcher there? Danny Mccray? If they're going to take a chance on a guy like that, why not Jimbo? He has already vastly improved FSU, has a good offensive system, can coach QBs, loved it in BR and is a outstanding recruiter? Very rarely do you get a full package like that at HC.
If they're going for a defensive coach because of LSU tradition and the loaded talent on D, then why the frick not take a shot at Patterson? Dude has proven he can win consistently with average talent. Patterson has got the most out of his guys, so you know he can develop. And his defenses are some of the meanest I've seen since Saban...imagine what he would do with a LSU D...
TAF needs to stand up with this hire if Miles leaves and pick the fan favorite. I'm pretty sure the consensus favorite among the fanbase is Patterson...at least try and make him turn us down.
