Pearl River announces its new football coach

The search for Pearl River's next football coach has officially concluded, and the Rebels settled on a familiar name.
Former Salmen coach Jerry Leonard will be Pearl River's next head coach, school administrators confirmed on Jan. 14.
"We're excited about the fact that Jerry (Leonard) wants to come out of retirement to do more in our community where he lives. It's a game-changer for us," Pearl River principal Trece Jordan-Larsen said. "Just his background and knowledge of the game is special. He really brings a lot to the table."

Leonard has a long history in coaching, especially in St. Tammany Parish. He amassed a 100-75 record in 16 seasons at Salmen before stepping away to move into administration after the 2017 season. He retired from administration at the end of the 2023-24 school year.
