How could we do worse offensively if Crowton was gone?

This. There's nothing to report

I know there in the middle of bowl prep, but there's gotta be something to report. belowpar hasn't posted in a month. Last we heard was Miles was going to contact Leach, Kragthorpe was high on the list as well, and the athletic department was possibly going to renegotiate Miles's contract.

IF crowton is miraculously allowed to keep his job after being in charge of a totally shitty and inept offense for the past 2 years, than that'll be 2 years in a row that the crowton situation has changed according to par.

belowpar never definetively said Crowton was gone. He has just filled us in on who Miles was looking at, considering, or contacting. For whatever reason, Miles has for 2 years been looking for a new OC but hasn't fired Crowton.

i'm aware of how par worded the crowton situation. but what i'm saying is that par was pretty sure that crowton would be gone last season and now this season from his inside sources. if crowton does stay, than that would #1 be totally ridiculous to retain a coach who has been so shitty, and #2 par's inside info doesn't pan out. so yeah, he probably doesn't need to post about it.

if crowton is run off after the bowl game, than i will apologize to par.

i don't think there's any reason to apoligize, but first off, he predicted Crowton would be fired last year but qualified it by saying things could change. They obviously did. This year, he has been much more quiet about what's going on and hasn't claimed one way or the other that Crowton will go/stay. He's pretty much said Miles is looking around. Doesn't make sense why he wouldn't make a move, but....

I agree with you guys. I would personally make a change just for the sake of change... I dont think that's how Les operates though, he's a loyal guy.

It is time to hear from belowpar again. At the end of November he said the following:

quote:

Miles might listen if Michigan came talking but that hasn't happened whatsoever.

Not really. If Miles has no interest, and has decided to keep Crowton for whatever reason, then there is simply nothing to report. Besides, everything I read from Michigan is to the effect that Miles isn't even being considered by the AD.

If CLM is going to stay seem like OC chatter would at least be happening

That's my only reason to believe we won't have a new OC for 2011 season. We should've heard more from the press by now regarding Crowton. Despite the fact Miles has been looking around for a new OC per belowpar, I sense we get to witness Crowton's final year of his contract in fall of 2011.

Bringing in a juco QB who has 3 to play 3 and staying with a OC that only has 1 year left on his contract hmmmmmmm

The risk reward is not there imo

Honestly, if Les had no intentions of going to UM whatsoever, he'd publicly come out and say something to that point. He has yet to do so, thus allowing things to continue to be speculated.

Now as a business man, Les is supposedly working on a new contract since his is set to expire in 2014 and cannot be extended anymore (supposedly a state law). Thus, he could refuse to discuss it as a point of using the leverage against LSU in negotiations on his new contract. In his position and given LSU's relative stupidity the last time around, he's doing the right thing from his side of things.

Les may not speak like he's the brightest, but the man is quite intelligent. After the fiasco last time around, I think he'd keep things quiet and make absolutely no mention of this until after the bowl game if he were to leave and it would be after terms of a contract were agreed upon.

I am not saying he is leaving at all. I am just saying that his lack of a response can leave open speculation and could be a strategic move on his part with what belowpar stated earlier. He and LSU are working on a new contract, and this is leverage.

Well, Rich Rod may or may not have been fired this afternoon. So it's not like Miles has let this so called speculation build up for weeks. Plus, he's in Dallas in the middle of bowl prep. He might not even be aware that the Michigan job is open at this point. If it really is.

Exactly. UM isn't announcing their next coach, even if it IS NOT Miles, within the next 3 days.

People, chill out.

Your assumption about a public statement is based on what?

I am not trying to say for people to panic or taking anything away from this. I think people need to be patient and let it play out. My simple point is that we don't know if his silence (when and if it becomes official that Rich Rod is gone) means anything.

Les isn't going to come out and say anything because if this happens because he'll lose leverage in negotiations.

LSU panicked once before just on the idea of Les leaving in 2007, why wouldn't they do it again? They showed last year they'd give a huge raise to keep Chavis under Alleva, so he's not averse to spending money.
