my guess is he addressed the situation, and said that something to the sound of is his alma mater came to him, that he owed it to them to talk to them. Thats my guess...There was never an offer so there was no way in the world he said the words.....I'm going to Michigan.

To me it sounds like Miles, through his agent or in some way, communicated to UM that he would interview if he was guaranteed to get an offer. UM wouldn't offer it to him without the interview first, so Miles said thanks but no thanks.
