I was just watching a replay of the New Orleans bowl with ULL and I have to say the I really hope that we do not pursue Mark Hudspeth. I really can't stand the spread systems like he, Mullen, Malzahn and Freeze run. I really hope that we keep that nonsense are away from our campus.

I don't know if that's his preferred system, but you have to consider why he's running it. ULL has sucked for a long time (which is why their former coach got canned). If Hudspeth doesn't have the athletes to run a conventional balanced offense, why not run the system that best fits your athletes?

It's his preferred system. He actually has a series of videos out breaking it down from when he was the head coach at North Alabama. They can be yours for the low price of just $39.95/ea.

It's the Sunbelt. C'mon, ULL has the best talent radius of any school in that conference, hell ULL has more talent w/in 100 miles of their campus than the U. of Arkansas does.
I'd immediately fire any coach that uses lack of talent as an excuse at ULL. They could simply recruit inside a DFW/Shreveport/Jackson/NOLA/Houston bubble and dominate the Sun Belt.
200 mile radius from ULL
There's a HELL of a lot of talent within 200 miles of ULL.

added Gary Pinkel to the On Deck tier. When we fired Houston Nutt, Pinkel was the guy I wanted us to go get. I like that swapping the P with an O in his last name changes it to Oinkel.
Will Pinkel be seriously considered? probably not. I like the idea of taking another Missouri coach. You hire em, we take em.
The main thing preventing Pinkel from having any kind of chance at the Arkansas job is frickin' Yost. That fruitcake wouldn't survive 20 minutes after crossing the border.

After the recent happenings, I think it's fair to raise the odds of Petrino getting re-hired to at least 1,000,000 : 1

They're at a Trillion to one right now. That means any one person in the world is 166.66 times more likely to get the job than Petrino. Those odds might be a tad low, honestly. I don't think his interview helped his case in the BAC. What it might have done is helped make it palatable for the fans of whoever hires him in January.
There's no way he could come back so soon. Maybe 5 or 6 years from now if we're hiring again and he's proven to have changed his life, redeemed himself as a human being and as a man. He might not even want to be a HC at that point in his life.
I do think he would want to come back and prove the world wrong. It's such a long shot, I think Jeff Long would have to be at a different job. I think Long's next job is going to be with the NCAA or a pro league or maybe a league commissioner. Crazy things happen all the time, but BmfP being Head Football Coach at Arkansas again might signal the Apocalypse.

PRJ is saying on RT today started the plan to bring Petrino back by starting the apologizing on national television. The plan was put in place by the money.

Porkrind Jimmy. He goes by another name on RT. Something with cookie in it.

Interesting. I missed like 8 pages of that thread tonight and didn't really figure I missed much. I guess I will check it out.

Best case scenario for Arkansas and BP reunion, might be him coming on board as an assistant.
The only way I see BP in Razorback Stadium in the next 24 months is coaching against us, or coming on board as an assistant or one of the administrative positions for the program. If tGrandpa is not retained, and Long is determined to keep the Petrino identity then Garrick might be able to convince BP to be his OC, which would help McGee's case to get the job.
I think we've got one of the best collections of Assistant coaches in the league. LSU's are really good obviously and I like a number of the guys on Aubie's staff.

I'm a little concerned that some of our fan base might be getting a bit of a false sense of security in thinking that we seem to be doing ok with Petrino gone and have survived relatively unscathed, when in fact the repercussions of his firing have not even reached the program yet. We just see the mushroom cloud in the distance and say to ourselves, wow that's pretty.
Most all of our valuable assistant coaches are Petrino hires. All of our players are Petrino recruits, including the most recent class that Velcamp already says is the best we've had since he's been there.
When JLS was arranging to bring over the fired DC fm Washington this week, that should have been a cold slap of reality for some of us, at least the edge of the dust cloud as it rushes towards us. Certainly caused some 90's flashbacks for me.
Besides CBP coming back, (which is unlikely) we are really going to need to hit a home run with this next hire (i.e. purpose of this thread I guess)

All it is is JLS doing a favor for a friend and someone who coached under him. You can't seriously believe this hire was made to improve our defensive staff... it's just a simple favor. That's it. When JLS is gone, so is Holt
