Franklin is not the guy we want.
said this pages and pages ago. he was going to be fired at maryland before he took the vandy job. he's worked a fairly unsuccessful career into a single 6 win season as a head coach with a senior-laden team.
there is no reason to have franklin on any list right now, much less the short list.

Any update on Jon Gruden?
He was quoted as saying, "who the frick thinks this thread is going to be updated at 3 in the morning?"

As he boards a plane to Fayetteville.

Football season needs to get back. I bet I visit the SEC Rant twice a day. I'm always in the OT. I'll post and forget that I did.

Yeah, football season is WAY too short. It seems like as soon as it starts it's almost over. So sad that a ~4 month season consumes my attention 12 months a year. I wish it was like international soccer that never stops.

Yeah, and I like soccer. It's just not the same.

Mums the word on Gruden. That's how it will be too. The serious candidates won't have a word peeped about them until the day they're hired. The names that get written about and talked about by the media will simply be names that their agents have dangled out there to test the waters or use us as leverage for sticking up their current employers for more $.
Sexton is gonna play the media like a fiddle on this thing and pocket himself another $10Million in fees in the process.

WV rivals board
This is a link to a WV board, in response to a question to Bruce Feldman about Dana Holgerson's chances at Arkansas.
ETA: thought we could see WV fan discussion on the subject, it's just a copy and past of Feldman's mailbag article from Friday. Doesn't look like there's anything interesting coming from WV fans on the subject.

Have not heard Jim Tressel's name thrown around. Maybe a good fit

I like you man, but you're crazy. You're craaaaaaazy maaaan.
For reals, if you learn one thing about the Razorback fanbase, learn this. We don't forget shite. We hold onto the tinyest thing to grind on and just like a country baptist church we'll overlook all sorts of things but if there's one little thing we don't like, you'll never shake us of that.
Tressel may be a good coach, but he is a cheating dickface. He's got a show cause for 4 more years, and he covered up shite just to keep good players on the field, the same players that should have been suspended for the Sugar Bowl. We'll NEVER, EVER, EVEEEERRRR forgive Tressel for that travesty. We're split on Malzahn, we're 99.9% solid against Tressel.
Tressel proved he could beat Michigan but couldn't beat the SEC unless he got super special privileges from the NCAA. Cheating bastard.

Tressel's not a bad name to consider, but the fanbase and money donors would never accept him.
I've decreased odds for Art Briles. Baylor's new stadium got Board of Regents approval. I'll assume part of that included a long term commitment from Briles and to Briles.
I decreased the odds for James Franklin based off of my in depth review of his resume and his staff's history.
I increased the odds for Skip Holtz, IIRC he was HS aged when Lou coached in Fayetteville. He might have an affinity for the area and if USF has a really strong year he'll be looked at. Who knows if the butthurt over Daddy Lou will keep him from getting the gig. Old politics could be an issue in the BoT & RF meetings.
Decreased the odds for Gruden. It's a pipe dream.
I'd be surprised if we hire any coordinator or assistant coach for the job.

So I'm Chicago for work, and had the afternoon off yesterday and made the short trek over to Evanston to check the Northwestern campus.
What a beautiful campus, holy shite.
I could sit on their lawn looking out over Lake Michigan and study for hours and love every second of it.
Anyways, I stopped at a local place and had breakfast, and I 'overheard' a group of gents sitting in the booth behind me talking about Penn State, then NW football coming up. They mentioned Fitzgerald and if they have another good year, most of them seemed to think he would take a job elsewhere IF offered, for the right amount of money/situation.
With that being said, I've seen NW predicted to finish at the bottom of the B1G this year, so I really doubt we would offer coming off a 4-8, 5-7 type season, but they seemed to think he's ready to leave. He probably realizes he's going nowhere regardless of how good of a coach he is, because it's Northwestern.

You should increase the odds on Les Miles. If only for the lulz it will bring.
