that's debatable. there is nothing, zero, nada in his tenure at OM to lead you to believe that just with the addition of Snead, that would have lead to automatic succcess for Bebe on the field...especially if Werner is still calling plays.

Again... read the post. We had no HC when we had Archer. That is the period that statement refers to.

Dude, O will never be a head coach anywhere ever again. I doubt he'll ever be a DC.

You like that word.

Seriously though. Assistant coaches come and go. The nature of the business is very transient. Who cares if he is only here for a year or two?

For him to be able to move to a better job means he did a good job for us while her so everyone wins.

I agree. He never got to coach a game with his biggest recruit, Jevan Snead

I thought Brent Shaffa was his biggest recruit.

As far as O's recruiting prowess he had one top 25 class at OM... he was 18th. If LSU had the classes O had at OM everybody on the LSU recruiting boards would be jumping off buildings.

He recruited much better at Miami and USC. Good for him. Wonder why?

Seems like his biggest get was recruiting Joe McKnight for USC when he was at OM. He lost the battle for KW to Les and LSU. Michael Oher is the quasi adopted son of Sean Touhy and was going to OM no matter the coach. He did not recruit a decent QB in his time there and had to resort to transfers, the last of which worked out.

As far as the argument that Nutt beat us with O's players remember that Troy almost beat us with their players. OM gave us fits under Tubs and Cutcliffe. LSU dominated them during O's tenure, beating them even when the team didn't show up and killing them when it did.

He just completed a season as a member of a defensive staff that could not get the Saints to the playoffs despite the league leading offense and an all time year by the QB. Was it all O's fault? Of course not. Did he do much to make it better? No.

And Josh Henson is not doing badly as a recruiting coordinator over the last few years. Will O play well with the other kids? Who knows?

If we hire O that's OK. Maybe he'll be fine. But the idea that he's some kind of must have just does not fit his profile.

It was at Ole Miss.

It was at Ole Miss and he got what Ole Miss will get during decent years, no better. And the OM DLine improved greatly after he left and Nutt's coaches brought in some order and discipline on D.

Look, I don't hate O and I'm not saying he can't coach a Dline. I'm saying he's overrated. By a lot.

the original post was he was not a good fit because he would leave after one season, not based on coaching for new orleans or him getting along with henson.

Ole Miss' Dline was very stout under O. Undersized but still effective.

Peria Jerry, Greg Hardy, Marcus Tillman all performed very early in their career under O. These guys have also developed to be better than expected. You have to give O some credit here.

I agree. I despise the argument against a coach that it "be for only a year." Who cares? And you are making assumptions about a person and what their future will be. Maybe O's dream job is to be at LSU.....who knows. Maybe he'll stay forever. But I'd rather have him for one year than for not at all.

Our D-line seriously underachieved this year. I'd like to have Coach O come in for a year and scream his a$$ off at them at least.
