and will be in a no-win situation just like Les following Saban, Zook-Spurrier, Perkins-Bear, Divine-Parsegian, Akers-Royal, everybody-Switzer..... It rarely works out for long.

with the legend still in town, looking over your shoulder, his hands in every cookie jar concerning the athletic dept still....
....not a good situation for the new coach, imo.

Never follow a legend. Always be the guy that follows that guy.

I agree totally. I think the replacement will have to win NC and go undefeated to be attacked like we do Les. Consequently, I'm not sure this job is a top allure for as many coaches as many think.

plus the fact that Meyer could recruit Florida with BOTH FSU and Miami being down....
FSU and Miami are on the way up so it will be tougher to get those recruits.

Shannahan is going to the Redskins. Stoops probably stays @ UO. ESPN listed Bobby Petrino as a candidate.

the key thing in the majority of those hires is that the replacement was a shitty coach

it takes more than 5 years to become a legend

on a technicality based on history - sure
but given that in the 5 years he has accomplished pretty much anything a coach wants to do,almost twice over - 2 Titles, Heisman, SEC championships, Top athletes flocking back to UF. Give the man his due - I thought it would be tough to get over the Spurrier hump in Florida but he did it.
