“They are racking up wins in one of the three worst conferences in the FBS and that just isn’t seen on the same level.”
Beating an Iowa St. team that finished top 10 last year apparently doesn’t count. Last loss was to Texas opening week on the road during the week of Hurricane Ida, the first game of a huge coaching overhaul behind Napier.
Crowd size is not relevant to rankings, however UL draws as good or better than any team not named LSU in this state. Bandwagon casuals are always the last to come around and they got burned with the previous coaching staff 5 years ago.
The “Fun belt” has had 2 teams ranked in the top 25 at times over the past few seasons and has passed a number of conferences in G5 ranks. Realignment was to the Sun Belts benefit and C-USA’s and others downfall. Facilities will be on par with many p5’s after the football stadium renovation. May want to visit UL and look at how they have invested in athletics. This isn’t 1980’s/90’s USL athletics, the entire administration prioritizes athletics now and is building it the RIGHT way.
UL is currently the second ranked G5 and would be in a NY6 if not for Cincy this year, same for Coastal last year. The Sun Belt has made huge strides. Times change and last I checked things can still be BUILT in this country with the right people and resources in place.

You are dreaming. The champion of the AAC and/or MWC will ALWAYS be ahead of the champion of the Sun Belt on strength of schedule alone. Other than one solid accomplishment (beating Iowa St last year), the rest of your post read like a list of excuses. Don’t even start with the Texas bullshite. They prepared all summer for that game and got it handed to them by a very mediocre team.
Teams in the Sun Belt just do not have the athletic budgets to keep up with the facilities that teams like Memphis or those that just moved to the Big 12 have. My contracting firm works all over the UM campus and has been involved in all of the new athletic construction and renovation there over the last six years. They aren’t SEC-caliber other than Vandy, but they are nicer and cost more than what you see at many smaller P5 schools that get more TV money. They are better than anything else G5 now that Cincy, Houston, UCF and BYU are moving up. Memphis has also been to a NY6 bowl and beaten SEC teams multiple times in the last 6 seasons. ULL just isn’t in that class.
After missing a chance to move up in this cycle, they probably never will be, because what’s coming in the next decade is going to be devastating to a lot of the G5.

You lost me at Memphis. The rankings are what they are. If Cincy had lost their conference championship last year Coastal Carolina would have been the NY6 g5 rep. UL can play in a NY6 game. It is possible. Very very difficult but possible.

Memphis has many more P5 skins on the wall, a NY6 bowl appearance, a lot more money, a P5-level basketball program, and a better TV market. A couple of nice seasons don’t get you there, except in the mind of a homer.
Say what you will, but there’s around a $20 million per year gap between the athletic budgets of ULL and the top of the AAC, even without UCF, Cincy, and Houston. In terms of revenue rankings (if you can find them), you guys are around 35-40 spots lower than the top of the AAC and MWC. You guys are never going to bridge that gap in a tiny TV market and with a small stadium. Anything else is just fantasy.
“It almost happened…”- Just more excuses. It didn’t happen. It has never happened. It is unlikely to ever happen. That’s just the truth of the matter, at least until the playoff expands. Good luck with that.

So because UL wins on that schedule you're saying:
1. ULL is a premier G5
And
2. Napier is a great coach
That's a jump to me. Here's why:
1. There's no such thing as a premier G5.
2. There was a coach from UCF that "claimed" a title a few years ago named Scott Frost. Won a lot of games, went to Nebraska and we see how that's going.
