My Take on Urban Meyer, Gonzales, Etc.

Yes, Gonzales knew what was happening. That is why he took the same job at another school away from his good friend.
Why did Meyer replace Gonzales if he knew he was going to leave? Dan Mullen is coming and this is his staff.

Mullen knew that he would be head coach of Florida and therefore decided to let Meyer hire new coaches and fire/send off existent coaches as a favor!

so being the good friend that he is, he told Gonzales that Mullen was going to fire him after his arrival?? and that he needed to find something quick, because after he's fired he'd be lucky to get another job?
