"Miles listened to Michigan out of respect"

That's such a bogus lie. If Miles really respected Michigan, and he had no intention of going to Michigan, then he would have told them on the phone. That way Michigan wouldn't have been embarrassed by the entire Les Miles courtship. Everyone knows that Les turned them down. That is more embarrassing than telling then on the phone, "Thanks, but I'm fine here."
Now, I fully understand what Les Miles did, and it was very smart on his part. He used the Michigan job as leverage to get the LSU administration off of his back for a couple of years. He just guaranteed that he will not be fired in the next 2-3 years. It wasn't necessarily about money, but it was all about job security.
