Using the statistics from footballoutsiders.com (FEI and S&P+) I did a comparison of Matt Canada's offense against LSU's.

2016: Better at Pitt than LSU
2015: Worse at NC State than LSU
2014: Better at NC State than LSU
2013: Canada's worst year. Much worse at NC State than LSU
2012: Better at Wisconsin than LSU
2011: Slightly worse at Northern Illinois than LSU

Overall, I think Canada has produced better results at schools with significantly less talent. I am excited if we make this hire.

It's worth noting 2013 was his first year at NCST.

For what it's worth, Navy is ranked #1 in FEI for both 2015 and 2016.

I'm in no way trying to shite on the guy, but the 'less talent' argument doesn't mean anything. He may have coached less talented players, but he also coached AGAINST less talent than he will while at LSU. He'll also be coaching against better coaches while at LSU. (That is if he does in fact get the job).

The statistics mentioned above account for strength of schedule. Coaching in the Big 10 and ACC is barely less talent anyway.

I think the point is, most teams he faced, had more talent. At LSU he will have more talent than the teams he faces. Outside of bama

LSU offense vs the bottom 10 offenses 2011 to 2016 is fair.

Yes. It definitely looks like he turned it around quickly in the following years.

Hey, Canada is not perfect, but I think we can all agree he will be better than Cam Cameron, who didn't do anything.

People are talking talent and competition. Do I really need to show how much closer the talent is at LSU to Bama and Ole Miss than the talent at NCSU to FSU and Clemson from 2012 to 2014? People NCSU is pulling 1 - 2 4 stars per year vs LSU pulling 13 4 and 5 stars in just 2015.

13 4 and 5 starts in just 2015.

Don't worry at all about 2013. The QB that year was supposed to be Pete Thomas -- a pure pocket passer who transferred from Colorado State. He was recruited by Tom O'Brien/Dana Bible in the Mike Glennon mold, pure pro-style. Thomas sat out 2012 as a transfer.

Then O'Brien was fired, Doeren was hired and brought in Canada. They went out and got grad. transfer Brandon Mitchell from Arkansas to run the spread. I think he played more WR than QB at Arkansas? Anyway, we gave him the ball and he did well the first few games with a very simple passing game. But once there was enough film to make a scouting report we went 0-8 in conference play. The fact that we scored a TD at all that year was pretty much a miracle.
