Dabo won a championship with a true freshman qb
So I guess every true freshman in the history of the sport should come in and play like a Jr./Sr.
Silly me.

You’re another one giving this guy a pass. Saban played a freshman QB and won. Dabo did too.

No, just not an excuse. He has been there a long time, why does he have to resort to playing a freshman that is not up to snuff?

Campbell and his defense is stuffing Riley (proclaimed genius here). Honestly would not be mad if Campbell came here. Younger guy, built a program up from nothing essentially (better than Napier imo), and his offense looks efficient.
I'd be happy to get Campbell. Only one game between them has been decided by more than one score, and Campbell has won 2 of them, AT IOWA FREAKING ST. Before Campbell the last time ISU beat OU was 1990, and he's done it twice in 5 years.
You could make the case the Campbell has outcoached Riley in all meetings.

Y’all are right. That settles it. Amongst the thousands of true freshmen QBs ever across the NCAA, 2 or 3 have won NC with amazing supporting casts. There should be no excuse whatsoever for a true freshman QB come in and play like he’s new to the game.
Guess I’m just crazy.

Rattler was already a top draft pick before the access went to his head and he thought he run the place and became an insufferable douche and had to be benched.

Another thing, as I suspected, Campbell's teams are regularly in the top 20 in the least penalty yards assessed. His teams are disciplined, which is absolutely necessary when you're going in with a talent disadvantage most weeks.
You want someone with the Belichick/Saban model, that's the essence of it, don't beat yourself. More games are lost than won.

I want people to realize that Matt Campbell had the 46th, 46th, and 59th recruiting class. He has his team neck and neck with OU/Riley, who had the 6th, 12th, and 10th recruiting class. You explain to me why Riley is not blowing out this other team

Lincoln Riley doesn’t need a pass lol.
He joined Okla in 2015 as the OC after two very rough years at QB play at Oklahoma
Heisman voting since then
2015 Mayfield 4th
2016 mayfield 3rd, Dede Westbrook 4th
2017 Mayfield 1st
2018 kyler Murray 1st
2019 Jalen hurts 2nd
Bubba, what iz you smoking?
So sorry there was a blip in QB play for one frickin year

Sure that’s awesome that those players did that, but what did the team win? If there is an award for being an amazing QB coach… Riley wins it.

Has his team won the national championship? Y
Posted on 11/20/21 at 1:07 pm to HotTakes
No.
So we can only hire coaches that’s won National championships now?
You’re trying your best to discredit everything he’s done and you look like a fool doing it.

I would ask you who you prefer to hire, but There isn’t a candidate in play with a better resume. No reason to even go there and crush your logic

It's simple, Campbell is a better coach. Riley is the current boy toy of TD so the idiots don't want hear that.

I really don't think anyone has to make a case for Campbell. I did since that was literally the title of the thread, but Campbell is an outstanding candidate and worthy of the LSU job IMO.
You look into his teams and he's maximizing the most of a program that is historically a doormat.
Only thing I would worry about is his ability to win elite recruiting battles vs SEC programs. You're guaranteed a certain level of class here at LSU, but any coach has to battle to get top 5 classes. No one is going to get top talents to Ames, Iowa, so his ability to win major recruiting battles has not been tested.
One thing people said was wait until Mullen gets elite recruits at UF, but turns out his recruiting engine just didn't rev high enough to win those recruiting battles.

Nah bruh. I see there are much better coaches than Riley.
Posted on 11/20/21 at 1:30 pm to Lester Earl
Lester you couldn’t crush a fly if you tried. The logic is solid. There are better coaches than Riley and we have a chance to hire them.

Matt Campbell for one. Ryan Day two. Some could argue Aranda.
