I'm glad you have a job and even more glad you don't make any important decisions for LSU.

The point of the thread is, to me it seems that most support miles yet don't want to give an extension or raise.

He is one of the highest paid coaches in the country. We finished 3rd in the SEC West. He should be fricking tickled with his current salary.

This.

Why give the guy a raise? He makes boat loads now.

Are you kidding me? We are poised to be in the middle of the hunt for the BCSNC next year and you would not do everything in your power to keep Miles?

Tard!!!

What makes you think Miles won't piss away any games next year like he has every other year he's been here?

If I had just an inkling of confidence that LSU would have the same approach to every game next year that they had in the cotton bowl, I would want les to stay. But they won't. We'll go back to being the same conservative, just do enough to win kind of team and it will cost us a couple times just like it always does.

You say we are poised for a BCS run and I say you are right. I just know our chances are better with a coach who enjoys scoring points EVERY game. Les is a good guy and a decent coach. But he doesn't deserve a dime more than what he is already making.

He is the third highest paid coach in college football, 4 million a year plus incentives. In a 40 hour work week that translates to about 2,000$ a hour. Let that sink in.

Extend or roll over the contract.

What was the point of the game? What was the object of the contest? Winning? So applying your total lack of logic or other thinking skills, your boss should fire you if you accomplished the goal of your job?
Ok I guess that sums up the intelligence level of yet another negatardo.

again, why should LSU give him a raise? bc of the potential of what can happen next year?

No, you give a raise if it accomplishes something that you want...

a.) presumably keeping a coach that you don't want to leave.
b.) eliminating/limiting the negatives in the current contract (rollover / huge buyout).

Personally, I would love to give the guy a pretty big raise while eliminating the big buyout and rollover contract that currently exists.

MOst who are saying he shouldnt get an extension or raise are the same people who bitch about not getting a cost of living raise from their job, even though they spend 7 hours of their work day on TigerDroppings.

I could care less wheather he stays or goes. If he stays, he will do plenty of bonehead stuff in the future and LSU will be stuck, unless they want to shell out millions. If he goes and LSU gets anyone besides Pellini, I have faith that that coach, with that talent will be very successful. No, the new coach probably won't have as good of a record, but I believe the reason is b/c the other schools in the sec have alot better coaches than they've had in the past, not b/c I believe Miles is a great coach.

Just like my profession, Miles is paid to do a job and get the results he has gotten. He is more then fairly compensated. I am for adding incentives for Championships or bowl wins, but an increase in his base pay is not appropriate IMHO. One can't expect a raise for simply doing what it is you're expected to do. Especially not in this economy. He is paid to win games and push for championships.

Now, I hope he stays and I think he is an asset to the university.

Again, you Lestards fail to see the entire body of work. You see the end result where process doesn't matter.

Again, we could have very easily finished the regular season with 5 losses. However, you just see the end result, and think everything is just fine.

3rd in the SEC West, and a Cotton Bowl victory deserves more than 4 million a year? You folks are quite generous.

I'm thinking the most successful coach in LSU history and a coach who has a winning percentage in the Top 5 in the nation for BCS programs in the last 6 seasons is a hell of lot better than "a decent coach", but each to our own.
