I'm saying Saban extended his March extension because it was a window for him to increase his pay by $2mill. That isn't very hard to understand at all. He needs legitimate interest from another team to gain that leverage. Sexton knew this and pounced on it.

So what you are saying is that Saban extended his march extension because he never wanted to go to UT?

Tell you what: use the Occam's Razor principle, then pick the theory which is closest to the exact fricking opposite of what Occam's determines to be the most likely, and that's what he did.

You're already on the right track.

When I made the smart azz thread yesterday I knew CNS was staying, I thought the announcement would come tonight or Monday.

I have a cousin who works at the university, ( I was born in DCH ) and it was pretty clear Thursday at noon that CNS had no intrest in the Texas job and was staying.
I imagine him turning down UT is the reason M.B. is coming back for 1 more year.

HELLUVA THREAD THOUGH, LAUGHS, PLANES, TRAINS & AUTOS......

Geauxtiger, been thinking do you think little bear set up bama buying out the notes on the loan.

Could that be all the flights to Austin?

Who paid off the damn 40 million?

So he adores the bama fans and that's why he stayed?

Hey, more power to y'all.

Regardless this was one Saban's timing. He either rode it out for the buzz or UT couldn't get it together, but if he was staying at UA it was not going to hang over the biggest recruiting weekend of the year.

Neither side can say for sure what haplened, but every credible source close to Saban said he was not leaving. (Finebaum, Low, Herbstreit, Lucky)

And what a great way to make a splash and build trust with recruits during our biggest recruiting weekend.

Thought finebaum wasn't close to Saban? At least that's what was agreed by many bama fans in this thread

I really don't know anything about all that. I'm pretty sure Doc trolled us hard. Although I can link to where I said I didn't completely believe him. I mean, who the frick would pay off someone's $40 million dollar debt without any commitment.

You got it half-right either way you look at it, Occam's or otherwise.

He simply doesn't have a single frick to give about Texas.

I don't blame him. Although no way in hell I would choose to stay in Tuscaloosa, but I would never step foot on UT's campus. So if I was him its a lose lose

Finebaum is close to Saban. Who said they weren't? Saban gives him access and he reports in a favorable light it is the classic reporter/source relationship.

But I admit I had him 80% gone or more. I WAS WRONG.
I still don't know how he got out of the LOG's but he is Satan all powerful, master of the world.

I would say he had a bout 2.5 million reasons to give a frick about those longhorns.

Nicky loves him some Texas (Sexton does too)

Yeah, but you have a bias. Also, you're not being paid a modest lottery winning each year to do so.

And it's not like he lives on fricking McFarland Blvd. in a shotgun shack or something.

I wasn't quite as sure but I thought by midweek he was gone just because he was letting it all drag on and Texas could obviously compete money wise.

But nobody can hang the 40 million dollar loan business on me. I knew that was bogus. Billionaires, even Texas oil yokel billionaires, don't become (or stay) that way by tossing six or seven times the going rate for something.

Then I'm not altogether sure why he isn't with those Longhorns right now. Unless people really put that much credence in the idea that Mack's got all these powerful Texas power brokers in his pocket and basically bent the UT regents over his knee and reminded them who runs that shite.

Well, if it had ended with he gone, it would seem somewhat justified. But this has to be one of the biggest letdown threads since... well... since ATPB.

I'm going to give you some advice since you are new. The only time you should ever believe Doc is if he's posting on the Music Board in a thread about the next big act coming to the Varsity. That's pretty much the only time he's not 100% bullshitting you.
