To change the subject a bit ...

There suddenly is a lot of Harbaugh to Texas talk. Is that being floated to get Saban off his arse or is that simply a plan "B"

Someone proposed that ALL of this is orchestrated and manipulated by the Texas admin. just to keep a smokescreen up and the recruiting class together until Mack is gone and the new coach is in

Seems downright plausible

floating around names and uncertainty wouldn't keep a class together, they've already had a commit say hes starting to look at other schools cause "texas football isn't texas football without mack brown"

Maybe the world knows Mack is gone

You give off the vibe that Texas can get any coach they want. Saban, Harbaugh, Belichick, doesn't matter. Because Texas is just that awesome. Whoever they bring in is clearly the best.

From what I saw of the Baylor game, that's not necessarily a bad thing

My new theory is that TX is pushing the Saban rumors until the recruiting quiet period to try to hold their class together. That way when Mack resigns or is let go, there isn't any time for other teams to try to poach the Texas recruits during the absence of a head coach. It buys them time to hire the new (not as glamorous of a name) coach. He is brought during the quiet period and can talk to the recruits; and there is no time where other head coaches would have been able to play the "Texas has no coach, he might not fit your style" card. Just a theory, I have no inside sources. Saban could also be waiting to resign his deal for over the weekend when all the big recruits are there for the official visit thinking that all the fanfare around it could be impressive to them. It would also show them his credibility while they are there. Just a thought. Like I said, no sources.

When I mentioned this yesterday, people found it to be plenty plausible. I don't think it is laughable at all. I don't know that this is happening, but there is definitely a chance that it could be the case.

exactly, he has 2 conf. championships and 1 NC in 16 years.. he's not the greatest coach obviously... he just slapped his name on everything and turned himself into a brand. he's really a piece of shite.

Miles has accomplished far more in 8 years in an extremely tougher division than mack has in 16. think about that

Wonder if the "wait till Dead period" has anything to do with it being a sign of good faith on Saban's part to show that he won't actively poach Bama recruits. Just spitballing.

It should also be mentioned that Sexton would still be in play even if Saban wasn't. He has a big and powerful stable of coaches.

Mack really is Mark Richt in ten years, I'm afraid. Difference is, if it ever looks like the folks in Athens are trying to push him out, he'll just let go of the rope and take Jesus to the Pygmies.

Alabama will not be the only school that's gonna have to deal with this. Texas needs a new coach = payraises for everyone
