If UT would have handled this correctly they probably wouldn't have been put in this position. I can imagine the conversation.

UT Trustees, "Coach Saban we would like you to be the next coach at UT and here is a big hefty contract we would like to offer you."

Saban, "But you already have a coach."

Trustees, "Yeah, but Mack will be resigning by the end of this week."

Saban, "Really, is that why he is down in Florida recruiting?"

Trustees, "Well coach, Mack will be out one way or another by the end of the week."

Saban, "Mack and I are friends, fire him and see where that gets you."

All the while, Jimmy Sexton has used Texas and the media to get Saban 7 mil from Bama.
