He's got 1 thing right - he wants to finish the season. As long as he doesn't make a decision, he gets to coach and collect his paycheck. So why should he decide until the season is over? He shouldn't. If the AD doesn't like it, he can fire Lane and pay him $35 mil on the way out. Lane wins either way, then gets his team back in January when the portal opens. I would do the same thing. Force the AD to make the next move. The AD will spend $35 mil, lose Lane, destroy the team and lose the rest of the season.
