Recruiting and grooming QB at Texas Tech is a hell of a lot easier to do than recruiting defense when you have A&M, Texas, OU, Arkansas, LSU, Bama etc sucking up all the decent guys.
shite, Jimbo is leaving the state to get defensive players for A&M b/c w/the way Texas high school is run there just flat out aren't enough top tier defensive players to go around.
