Is Woodward willing to wait on any coach that’s in the college playoffs?

Is woodward willing to sabotage early NSD for the right candidate? Probably.

I would hope he has a plan for that.

If that coach told us “just wait and I’ll take it” yes

But he wouldn’t wait just to have the initial discussions and an opportunity

What I'd be concerned about is, assuming they make it to the playoffs, what if the coach wins a national championship?

Fickell/Riley are the only ones that would be relevant here

We all know the playoff is gonna be UGA/Bama/OhioSt/Oklahoma/Cinci…some combination there.. And obviously Saban/Smart/Day aren’t candidates

So we’re only looking at Riley and Fickell here, neither of which have any chance of actually winning the title so we can mark that possibility off of being unable to leave after winning the title as the above poster mentioned (which is definitely a Legit concern as it would be almost impossible to leave after winning the title, but neither of our possible candidate will win the title)

If there was a possibility of Fickell or Riley, Woodward is gonna get their answer in private before the playoff.

Interestingly, it’s the same situation we found ourselves in with Miles and Michigan. And if rumors are to be believed, he was actually getting ready to make the jump from LSU while preparing for the national championship game.

Could be why he kept Ed around, let him stick around through January on contract to buy time for the new coach to finish up.
