Is it fair to say Scott Woodward doesn't make risky hires?

Let's look at some of his past hires:

Steve Sarkisan
Chris Petersen
Jimbo Fisher
Buzz Williams
Kim Mulkey
Jay Johnson

Out of these hires, how many would you consider to be risky? Also, going off his past choices, is it fair to say he tends to pick the safest/most proven candidates?
Foremost, is there anything that leads you to believe he will make a high risk hire this time around, or does he stick to someone who has succeeded at this level prior?

Petersen was jumping from a G5. Highly regarded though but probably on par with Fickell in terms of risk.

Sark was never a HC before being hired.

Fickell seems like an extremely safe bet at this point, wouldn't you agree?

So Sark was Scott's highest risk hire

I mean sark didn't pan out.

Jay Johnson wasn't the hire we thought. Most though Bianco, O'Connell, Casey or Vitalo

Sure, but I think of his 3 football hires, you run from high risk (sark), medium risk (Petersen), low risk (jimbo). Football is a different beast than basketball or baseball.

Who did we think, the vandy coach? I'm not as tuned into baseball as I am LSU football

I agree, I guess I should've only included his football hires

Sarkisian took over an 0-12 team and finished with a winning record before being hired away by a bigger and better job. I consider that a success.

Intelligent people always minimize down side risk.

Petersen wasn't a regular G5 coach. He won multiple championships in G5 schools. He's got recipes for success.

I believe that too many have put Woodward on too high of a pedestal and the expectations are unreasonable.

He’s an AD who is known for (and has successfully) swung for the fences at his previous stops, and now he’s AD at his alma mater making his first football hire 2 years after a championship.

The bar is rightfully high. He is almost certainly pulling out all the stops.

Except for stops at USC and UW this is 100% accurate

Woodward will make a home run hire! It’s just what he do. Buckle up and be patient. Will be worth the wait, and don’t worry, it ain’t Jimbo!

Jury is still out on Jimbo because he has not done anything other than win a close game against Alabama....he still loses games he should objectively win at TAMU plus he started the dumpster fire that is now FSU football.

As I’ve posted, this is objectively false. Of his 12 losses at atm, in only 4 did he have the superior roster, and one of those losses it was the superior roster by only one spot (13th vs 14th best).

2 of the losses this year came in the first two sec games after their starting qb got hurt.
