You mean obsession from the fans? Didn't Saban have to tell the fans to leave him alone and let him do his job because they were always bugging him to golf, make appearances, etc?

I think you're overestimating Bama's popularity and underestimating Saban's popularity.

IDK if that happened or not, guess you keep up with it more than I do

Would be happy with people bugging me to golf, I would be down to play 18 everyday and make appearances sure why not

Not if you're a type A like Saban.

Gonna blow up about how much you hate and can't stand LSU fans here like you did in the, "elephant in the room thread" on the Bama board? You seemed a bit testy there so I find the fact you're posting here a bit interesting.

Before Saban got there, local Birmingham sports talk shows were debating whether Alabama was a top 25 job.

Hard to argue it's not, but really it depends on the individual coach and what they are looking for. As an example, look how many times Chris Peterson declined to be considered for other jobs before this year.

I'd imagine it's hard to be a type B and the head coach of any top tier program -- or maybe that's the key to staying healthy while doing it?

Having to follow a coach who is a legend is a problem.
Everyone expects you to produce legend level results.
Getting the expectations back to reality is a problem and will take a couple years.
Only question is what coach would willingly take that job?
Not only from being transitional, but hurting future work knowing you were run off.
Ehhh, guess we shall see.

Always tough to follow a legend and history shows the first hire following a legend does not have long term success.

Awesome job cupboard is full just have to maintain

Their will be a few bitching every year you don't win an NC, but 10-2 or 9-3 isn't going to get you fires.

Think it can be done im actually a head coach for a high school baseball team in Houston, Tx. A lot different than college football no doubt but different ways to approach the game or games. I think Pete Carroll would fit into the type B personality just depends on how well you know your stuff

The first step to recovery is always admitting that you have a problem.
