In his first three years at LSU, Hallman went 7-16 in SEC; O went 3-21 at OM

Think about that for a second. We're talking about Curley Hallman, arguably the worst coach in LSU history. AND O somehow won fewer SEC games in the same time period. Than Curley Hallman! EVERY time I reflect on that fact, it seems impossible that he is actually in consideration for this job. I just can't believe the AD would foist him onto LSU over every available alternative.

In looking up Hallman's record, I stumbled across this telling article from And The Valley Shook, entitled "Biggest Disasters in SEC History: LSU Hires Curley Hallman" Now we are (apparently) considering someone who fared even more poorly in the SEC as a full-time HC. The article was written in 2013, well before this coaching search. Here is the introductory paragraph:

quote:

Look, every fan of every program has a coach that they can't stand, and use as a stand in for every lousy coaching decision the program has ever made. Alabama has Mike Shula. Florida has Ron Zook. Mississippi has pretty much every person they have hired since 1970, but especially Ed Orgeron. But Zook and Shula at least had winning seasons. OK, Orgeron didn't, but how is that different from the average Ole Miss coach?

Come on Alleva, hire Herman or another coach. We can do better than this.

You left off the part where Orgeron inherited a better program than curly did.

Probably true. Cutcliffe had enjoyed more success in the preceding two years than Archer had. Hopefully, this will be a moot issue when we hire someone else,

Not many alabama fans don't like Mike shula. He came in and took over a horrible situation but we knew he wasn't a head coach. We are forever in debt to him for getting his alma mater out of the papers and giving all he had under the worst circumstances a coach could be given. I don't know of many people who "can't stand" him though. He's welcome back anytime.
