If Nutt were to coach Ark next year...

And coach O had another year like this past year and was fired, would OM still want Nutt after next year?
I say NO. They lose McFadden, Monk, maybe Jones, and a quite a few others. I think next year ol' Houston was looking at a major rebuilding year. And Ark knew this as well. ARk alum i talked to said, they are going to struggle next year and Nutt would have been fired. OM would not have wanted a fired coach, but i still believe they got just that today.
I don't care what the media says, you don't pay a coach 3.5 million dollars if he is resigning on his own. I think ARK just paid him that money and sent him own his way. They floated that "2-year" extension story out there so it doesn't make ARK look bad for telling a coach who just beat the #1 team in the country at home "see ya later". (How hard would it be to find a new coach, if they fired Houston Nutt after that?)
So, ARK just gives him that 3.5 mil to keep his mouth shut and go along with the 2 year extension story.
I think though this is a good hire for OM. This is definitely a step in a right direction. I don't know if he will be able to win the SEC west. It is going to be alot harder to win at OM then it was at Arky. ARK had better facilities, more money brokers, etc. Nutt's recruiting is not that great either. If you want to give him credit for McFadden, then great. But hate to break it to you, #5 was going to ARk no matter what. Houston is not a "savior". He is going to be like a Tommy Tuberville when he was at OM. He's going to win 7 games a year and then this is going to make him look great to win at OM and then he's going to leave. Look at who his agent is.
Jimmy Sexton gave Nutt the best advice he could have had. Nutt is a very wealthy man today b/c of Sexton's advice.
I still think this was a very good hire for OM. They could have done alot worse. See your last coach for that.

True, but getting paid 3.5 mill dollars plus what he is going to make at OM is going to be an added bonus. He's technically almost making as much as Saban.
