I would choose Aranda. He’s bright, young, and would be willing to stay for long term(I think he loves the teaching aspect of the game). He is stable and well respected around football circles

Parents would gravitate towards this man leading their child to become a well rounded person along with football development. Whether or not he’s good at it or “likes” recruiting I don’t think it would be a hard thing for him to do, especially here.

He secures one side of the ball. Some say oh he will need a great OC. Ok, which candidate secures two sides of the ball? One side is all you can ask for. Him being the brain he is on defense, he knows exactly what offenses are difficult to stop. So I would assume he could make an educated hire at OC.

That’s all I got my peeps

Has weaknesses in recruiting. If not for that, I’d be higher on him.

He may not be an Ace in the hole, but like I said I don’t think it would be hard for him to do. He’s likable and respected. Just the type of guy parents want molding their kids. Plus he would have the benefit of the LSU brand and fertile recruiting grounds that is Louisiana. It’s not the most difficult thing to do here or sell to a young man

I think his ability to develop with his knowledge of the game somewhat offsets this.

I have no doubt he could pull top 10 classes though. That with development is all you need

While I agree that Aranda would be a plus as far as character development and positive values, and a really good football coach to boot, how many kids and their parents or guardians really value those things? I mean, really.

We see lots of family who seem to be as concerned about NFL dreams and riches as these kids. If the coach is cranking out 1st round NFL draft choices, does being a good student and solid citizen trump that in their minds?

Most of the players are single, but have kids of their own, so how much are their parents concerned about character development?

Winning, NIL, NFL future are the things that sell in recruiting. Not condoning it, but it's the unfortunate truth.

While I would tend to agree, but we’re not talking about a low tier program.

LSU does crank out top 10 1st round talent. You would just be adding the character to go along with it.

The character development would be a hard sell if that was the main sell. Well at LSU it’s not, it would be a bonus. Your chance to get drafted along with good solid guidance.

I’m not sure your point hits at a place like LSU

It absolutely applies. Nick Saban, Kirby Smart, Jimbo Fisher and Dabo Swinney offer everything Aranda does. You don't think they sell the same things?

I like Aranda, but his "goodness" as a person won't outsell the masters at recruiting. It's winning and NFL futures. That's primary for players and parents.

Ummmmm we win and put players in the NFL. Maybe not so much the wining last two sessions but we’re a top program last 20 years. The NFL talent speaks for it self.

What exactly are you saying? Are you saying Aranda couldn’t sell winning at LSU? Are you saying he couldn’t sell NFL at LSU? You’re joking right?

Only bama can boast more titles than us lately and not many can boast more players put into the pros than us.

So no, it doesn’t apply. He can sell those things ALONG with character

IF character and goodness was all he was selling yes.

But that’s not the case. Here it’s a bonus add. He can sell the dream as well. If you don’t think so you’re not paying attention

My top choices in no order would be:

Aranda
Napier
Rhule

I realize this is unpopular but I don’t think Jimbo, Kiffin, Tucker, Franklin or even Riley give us some guarantee of greatness.

Neither do my choices I get that.

I’d really like to know also. I don’t think he is bad, just know that’s what everyone on here says so I was giving a counter to it. I never heard he’s top tier in recruiting. Maybe he is though idk

Plus I’m pretty sure he could recruit here even if he’s not known to be top level in recruiting.

Every program can sell a dream. I like Aranda. I do. But he can't sell the dream that Saban and Smart can just because he would wear an LSU shirt.

I won't be at all upset if he's hired, but you seem to be easily sparked about the issue. If he's hired, I'll support him, but I doubt Woodward is spending untold millions for a dream and character plan.

Kirby is selling what exactly? I get his regular season success, but he hasn’t won a title.

Not every school or program can sell that dream like an LSU. That’s a false statement. Look at the titles, wins, and NFL talent over the last 20-25 years we’ve put out.

We can sell titles, NFL, along WITH this character as I’ve stated. Again, it’s as if you’re saying Aranda can’t sell those things here at LSU and he’s only using some good guy fairy dust. Make no mistakes. LSU offers these other things.

Saban is a different animal all together. Nobody is on his level.

Look, I like Aranda. Won't be upset if he's hired.

Yes, LSU can sell championships and NFL draft picks. It can also sell 5-5 records and a 4-4 this year with a dysfunctional team and coaching staff.

You understand that other teams are pointing to that, right? Burrow and Brady are gone, and other schools are pointing that out. They're pointing at draft projections and playoffs. LSU can't do that. Dave Aranda can't do that.

I love the guy. I think everyone does. I'll support him, but I just don't see him as the guy for LSU right now.

Two seasons don’t erase 2 plus decades of wins, titles, and draft success. It just don’t. You’d have to tank for a while.

These kids are well aware of what we are capable of. Getting a competent coach in here next year points to more success. I think we would all agree Aranda is more than just competent.

Burrow and Brady are gone. But they weren’t here for the last 25 years of success either. They didn’t make this program

If you think he’s not ready just say that. None of these other reasons would hold him back.
