If Fisher and others are truly off the table, Herman's agent holds all the cards

And I think we might end up going with O just because of personal egos and a total lack of bargaining leverage.
He knows LSU principals don't consider O to be a great choice, and apparently, neither does O, which is why his price is reportedly FAR lower. It's simple logic. If he was, he wouldn't be publicly willing to work for so much less.
This is why you get a list of candidates that includes more than 2 guys and one coonass. maybe they do have one and we just don't know, but if it truly is down to just Herman and O, I do believe we're fricked.

LSU is going to give Herman its best offer. The cards don't matter. Either the offer is food enough for abyes or it isn't.

The Louisiana way has alway been two candidates - one of them is real and the other is to make the search look real. I just don't know who's who in this case.

It's possible that Herman is already the guy and Coach O is said to be making a big push in order to make a segment of the fans happy. I'm not saying its true - I just wouldn't discount it as a possibility. I've seen it happen before in Louisiana. I think it's odd that they have narrowed it down to two this early in the process. It suggest to me they have the coach they desired. It might be Coach O but I'm skeptical.
