Emotional rivalry game coming up, there's a media circus going on discussing your destination, and you can't sign the extension because you're "blocking out the noise?" Win or lose the egg bowl, those guys are going to have this in their heads. It's like a girl telling you she might go to prom with you unless a better offer comes along.
This is a stupid take on this situation. Kiffin has done nothng to bring all this on except leave his options open. If OM had not put the gun to his head he would probably coach through the playoffs before deciding. However with the new rules on recuiting, portal, playoffs, etc everyone involved is in a pickle.
Should Kiffin sign OM extension offer just because they will match any incoming offer? Not if he desires to go elsewhere sometime and OM is trying to lock him down.
Should LSU or UF sacrifice the future of their programs and take somebody they dont want because of ettiquete? Hell no! Dont be sinsiter about it but dont be shy either. Get what you want and be ethical about it.

Don't get me wrong, I still hope we land Kiffin. But I wouldn't be happy if this were happening to us.
I agree. And I think Lane would be great here, but this entire situation does create a red flag. Would he really leave a team on the eve of the playoffs? That just seems wrong on several levels, both loyalty to the program and the players; and from a competive standpoint point, how do you walk away right before the biggest game of your career. That would be stunning to me.
