I doubt they had time to become best friends or anything, but they had to have crossed paths a few times. Regardless, she is the only one at LSU that could actually speak to how he handled himself as a HC, whether she thought he seemed to be in control of the program in whatever capacity she was privy to, even if it was just at alumni events, fundraisers, whatever.

Not that Scott would base his hire solely on her opinion, but she has a unique perspective that could be a nice resource to take advantage of, however small it may be. I doubt she was in a position to have been blown away by him Xs and Os wise, but she could have potentially seen things that led her to believe he could—or not—be ready to take on a job as big as LSU and the expectations that come with it. Just a thought.

I’m not discounting this, and I love Coach Kim from what I’ve seen of her. I just simply do not believe she’s involved in this process at all in any way. She may be someone Scott can point to and say “Look what I’m building here,” but she isn’t influencing SW or any candidates.

Scott should get Mulkey to go give him a inspirational speech on why he should come back to LSU. Send her in to close it out.

I mean, OP has a point. It would be smart to at least ask her.

at least it's not another BOB thread

I’m not suggesting she’s involved in the process, really, just that Scott could have simply asked her what she thought about him, if she was even around him enough to have an opinion. It seems silly to not even have a 5-minute conversation.

Right. Maybe the AD could even have something like a "staff meeting" with his coaches routinely. Do you think they might already be doing this in some capacity?

To a point, sure. Maybe she has marginal insight into how he ran his program. I’d wager that the people Scott contacts know the ins and outs of the entire program, though.

I don't think LSU needs Mulkey to get an assessment of Dave Aranda's character.

Brother Man
I'm going to let you in on something -
Being in control of the program is not something you'll have to worry about with Dave Aranda.
