How much is this lingering baggage from Duke LaCrosse botching?

Alleva mismanaged the Duke situation. He also is considered to have botched the Les Miles departure.
He has no margin for risk.
Risk involves money, results and PR.
Don't think Freeze can happen on his watch, nor does it seem palatable from a (likely) JBE and FKA perspective.
Gilbert should be the man.

The fricking morons in charge plucked that bumbling coward off of the firing line at Duke and doubled his salary a year after the scope of the scandal was fully understood, so I’m guessing they aren’t giving it much thought a decade later.

But in Alleva's psyche, it may loom large, leaving him risk-averse from a PR perspective. That can mean everything when considering Coach O pushing for Freeze and Baby Briles (I know he is off the table, but you get the point).

Both of these situations were decided above Joe Alleva’s head. He is not without fault in either case but the end result was more of people above him telling him what to do. Being the AD he has to deliver the bad news so he gets most of the blame.
