Kids will be looking for alumni to get jobs within the state and nobody wants to live in a chilly, poverty state.

It has already crumbled and now can only go forward, hard as that may be for anyone from outside this state to believe.
Anyways, they won't care about what Detroit is like. The only reason they would need to go is for a concert or a professional sports game. Ann Arbor is very nice and big enough that you don't need to get away once the weekend comes.

No offense but y'all trying to hire Butch is pretty stupid. I don't mean for all homer reasons either. He's a Rich Rod disciple, runs the same offense, etc. Why would Michigan hire that again? Makes no sense to me, not to mention your AD said that he doesn't want a "Michigan Man" which is the only reason Butch is even considered for the job cause he's from there

Please tell me you're not trying to say coming to Michigan decreases your chances of getting a desirable job after you're done playing?

Yeah, can't figure this one out. Why is Butch a high commodity?

Meh. Tennessee is recruiting pretty damn good the past 2 years.

Historically, yes. But I dont' know if it's that obvious a difference.

better city,
Depends. The libs up in the people's republic of Ann Arbor can be a bit much. White privilege seminars and such.

more resources
Tennessee has spared no expense in football resources. I doubt this is a difference maker.
Personally, I'd take the Michigan job for more $ and less competition.

You don't have to play UGA, UF, UA and two other SEC West schools annually
Add Missouri to that list. The Vols are our Bitch !!

This. There's no livable major metro area anywhere near UM. It kind of sucks to not have a livable metro area nearby. Might as well be like living in Nebraska.

When Michigan is real good, all they will need to do is split the Ohio State and Michigan State games and they have a great shot at making the playoff, especially when it gets expanded to 8.

You've started this exact thread before so I don't expect anything less from you. There are very nice, wealthy suburbs everywhere around metro Detroit, and downtown Detroit itself isn't that terrible. It is the sprawl of Detroit that is bad. Just like with Chicago, whenever they talk about shootings they are talking about South Chicago not downtown. If that doesn't float your boat, live in Ann Arbor.
If you want to move somewhere post college with a strong alumni base, almost every major city in the US will have you covered. Michigan grads go all over.

I see Butch is one of the Vegas favorites to land in Ann Arbor. I'm just thinking in my head and can't come up with any reason(s), besides $, for him to leave.
I think Butch may already see that winning at Tennessee is going to be very, very hard. If that's the case, it might make sense for him to take the Michigan job.
