How close did DiNardo get to taking the ND job?

I honestly don't remember whether it was even open, but I do remember that we gave him a raise in order to keep him. Refresh my memory, please?

joe dean gave him that crazy rollover contract with a raise ... he was also supposedly a candidate with the dallas cowboys too at the time ... that turned out to be a really good decision for LSU .......

Notre Dame people said he was being "groomed" for the job. I think the timing was off...he got fired about the same time Davie did. Or he got fired then Davie a few years later. One thing is sure...if he had continued winning we would have been in the same situation with dinardo going to ND as Miles going to michigan.
