He's going to have options and LSU isn't the only one. To LSU fans, your job is the best (similar to how all fans feel about their school). We don't know if he feels the same, but he's shown that he's smart enough to keep enough interested bidders at the table to maximize his earning potential.
10/17 will be the telling date when the vote for Big 12 takes place. If Houston gets in, Herman gets a $5M bonus and his salary is bumped up to $5.5M/year. If that happens, LSU or Texas offering $6M/year isn't going to stop Houston from matching, and why would he walk from the $5M bonus? If Houston doesn't get into the Big 12, then he's likely heading somewhere else after this year, in my opinion.

That's all great, but context matters.
Dan was asking him if, generally, someone can win a national title at Houston. They were just talking about resources needed and what not. Tom said "Yeah, this year certainly." He didn't go on to say, yeah at Houston I have everything I need to win championships which was the more broad question Dan was asking. Duh he can win it this year. Look at the big picture.
And I never said he would come to Baton Rouge. Currently it is the best and only job open, but I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up at USC or Texas if either job comes open. But I stand by my take that that answer he gave is an indication that he doesn't really believe he currently has everything he needs at Houston to win championships and he will be looking to move on if Houston doesn't get into a better conference.

I wonder if Texas would consider balla blockin Houston from joining the Big12 to improve their odds of landing Herman

they are trying SO HARD to spin anything in a positive light for them. But I'm sorry. Tom Herman will not be the coach at LSU..i tried to bet with anybody but nobody took me up on it.
