Without a DC named, hiring the position coaches makes it tough unless a role is etched in stone---like Davis.
Coach K sees BD can coach up the line to run the/a scheme we're gonna run. K will hire an OC that will run his scheme so hiring Davis was possible.
On defense, not so much.
If it was going to be Daronte it would follow that positions could be filled right now. Much as I'd like to see what Jones could do after his baptism by fire---and I love his Aranda like 3-4 ---I don't think he's gonna be DC.

But for reasons explained above and the fact that they haven't actually announced him as CB coach, I'm thinking he's on staff and the announcement was to (hopefully) deflect some on Raymond leaving...
