How the frick is it a smear campaign?
Posted on 11/27/16 at 9:57 pm to rmnldr
Why the frick does "everyone" need to see it?
He had a presentation for Ole Miss. It worked. He had one this time too. And I have no idea the implications of the Powe stuff. He recruited a guy and got assurance that he was going to play for him? OK?
What's the point of the thread and the urgency to get as many eyes on this randomness?

Why are yall surprised about an anchor? Regardless of anyone's opinion of this hire, this thread is a smear campaign against LSUs coach. Of course it's anchored.
This isn't a smear campaign. It's literally from a published book. The book was published 8 years before O was LSU coach.

You can interpret the thread how you want.
I made it to show the similarities between his hiring at Ole Miss and his hiring at LSU.

After the way "the search " was handled, I'm done with hoping and getting all excited about promises where lsu is concerned. This is typical of how our administration operates. I want the best, but I'll save my excitement for when the results come. Not for promises like we just heard for two months about hiring a proven championship coach and money was not gonna be an issue

OK. The incredulousness of the anchor (which supports what I'm saying) and the odd urgency with which you and the other guy have in getting this important stuff to the masses comes off differently. It comes off as trying to get people to think like you, which is clearly negative. Seems sort of like a smear campaign, but I'll leave your anchored thread to you and the other investigators.

You are right, a book written a decade before O is LSU coach about O at Ole Miss isn't relevant now. Sorry we didn't see the light. Thanks for helping!

You claimed to simply be posting facts, and then you laughed at my interpretation of them. Are you not trying to imply that one should take those facts and react differently?
How should we process the information?
You don't have to answer, and I'm sure you won't, but I assume you see where this is going.

Why don't you read the book for yourself and make your own opinion? The book is called Meat Market by Bruce Feldman.
O comes across looking utterly incapable. I'm not contending that he is in fact incapable, but that is what his portrayal ended up being.
If you don't think the assurances from Powe's handler, Barnett, were weird, then I don't know what to tell you. I do encourage you to read the book though.

I don't need to read a book to know that he was incapable at Ole Miss. His record tells me that more than I want to know. It's a big reason I don't like the hire.
But the fact that he prepared a presentation for both interviews means nothing to me. It's clearly who he was and is, and it's not a bad quality. I hope he still isn't a 3 SEC wins in 3 years coach. I guess we'll find out.
If also don't see the reason to bring up "shady" things about our coach's past after he was hired.

Okay. My point is to encourage you to form your own opinions, to dissuade the notion I'm engaging in some sort of smear campaign. I'm not making anything up. It's all been a matter of the public record for nearly a decade. That some people didn't do their due diligence (Alleva) is not my fault.
