Firing Tubs = Firing Solich

Lots of similarities here. I predict lots of regret similar to that NU went through.

rumor is that some at the Barn (i.e. Louder) had wanted Tubby out yrs ago. Not sure if Solich had similar enemies within.

I mentioned the exact same thing to a buddy when it happened.
Didn't Solich get fired after a 9 win season though?
Still, the same principle applies. Good coach, solid team and they just don't realize what they had. But they will. What sucks is that most of the AU fans KNOW Tubby is a good coach and are disappointed he's gone.

I don't think there is much of a parallel. Solich followed a legend that consistantly competed for national titles in a different landscape. Tuberville took over a program on probation (or at least coming off) and turned it around completely. Solich was the case of a spoiled fanbase. Tubby has the misfortune of having worn out his welcome with the boosters.

I think the point being that both teams let go of good coaches and regretted/will end up regretting it. Not necessarily the history and terms of the hire and coaching resume.

thats pretty much been established fact for 5 years. They met with Petrino during the middle of the night in an abandoned arms warehouse.

i think solich would have eventually brought NU down. he was living off osbourne's legacy and that would end

What about Bill Walsh? Did he not implement the West Coast O until he got to SF? I can't remember that far back. I was but a wee lad at the time.
