I think 1 word describes Mike Shula as a person and a playcaller, bland.
He will have more talent than he had to work with at Bama if he goes there...

I hope Florida likes runs up the middle for no gain on repeat.

If Shula can figure out how to score in the redzone Florida will have them a good OC.
Alabama led the SEC a couple times in trips to the redzone, but was always toward the bottom in effenciency.
Between the 20's Shula was not nearly as bad as some of you make him out to be.
Don't forget JPW set several school records with Shula as coach.

Is there any chance he's learned a thing or two since Bama? Please say yes. Just a chance is all I'm looking for.
Maybe. He might pass on 1st down 3 times a game instead of just 1 or 2 now.
Shula is so conservative, he makes Saban look like Mike Leach. His offense is basically something you would have seen back during his own playing days.
He's a nice guy, and I thank him for getting Bama through some lean years, but I wouldn't want him calling plays for my team no matter how much talent we have.

Shula only coached JPW one year.

That really does sound like Bobo.

How is that different from now? At least against LSU, Bama = between the 20's U

In all honesty, it has been a long time since Bama has been a consistent team inside the 20. Although, I will say that Alabama has been much better inside the 10 under Saban than Shula.
The biggest difference now for Bama is the ability to score from anywhere on the field. Without looking up the actual numbers, I would dare say Bama has had as many 20 and 30+ yard touchdowns in the last 2-3 years than the rest of the 2000's combined - Or at least it feels that way.

The problem with Shula at Alabama was always our offensive line. For some reason I can't remember the name of our OL coach during the Shula years
How can you forget Bucketstep Bob Connelly?
