this has to be some of the dumbest statements i've ever heard regarding an nfl coach....
i just dont understand why some of you think that hiring an NFL coach would be a bad decision...

The Browns lack talent and that was obvious. They were in every single game except the last one vs. pittsburge up until the last minute of each game. They played very competitively in 15 games and beat the saints and patriots in back to back weeks.

1 person got it right

hes a good coach, just an a-hole.

Had 1 shitty year in NY, and inherited an awful Browns team that played overmatched teams very close (this year).

Anyone who coaches under BB for 9 years knows what they are doing as far as X's and O's

Regardless, him coming to LSU would be pretty shocking to me...

Agreed, I dont know why people think that you have to have college coaching experience to be a good college coach. For example, Bill Arnsparger failed miserably as a head football coach at NY Giants and had pretty good success here at LSU, Lou Holtz failed at NY Jets , yet was a good college coach, the ole ball coach failed at Redskins but a good college coach. Nick Saban didnt really light it up at Miami, pretty good college coach. The bottom line is that just because you are not a great NFL football coach does not parlay into being a bad college football coach. Dont know much about Mangini and still think Miles will be here which is okay with me, but I think that it is wrong to assume that someone who has a tough time in the nfl IS going to automatically be a failure in college football coaching. Lets go out and take care of the Aggies.

When hiring an NFL coach for college...
Knowledge is only one factor...
His PERSONALITY and how he is PERCEIVED are HUGE factors.
..just because anyone was an NFL coach does not automatically make him a good HC...
he may / he may not...it is just not an automatic thing

So what are you implying as far as Mangini's personality? That he doesn't have the personality to recruit 17 and 18 year old kids? Does any college coach have a more annoying personality than Nick Saban?

I'd be 150% behind this. His players were lobbying for him to stay last season. Plus, that Browns team is dog shite on talent.

nothing.. some here believe that just coaching in the NFL qualifies someone..not true.
..but yes you are right in that some NFL coaches are not suited for College.

BTW, has Saban ever sat in your living room and recruited your child ???
you do not know how he is in front of parents..not even a clue.
He seems to be doing something right.

The major difference being Saban has the skins on the wall- Mangini doesn't.

I don't think his demeanor lends itself to college ball at all.

The guy comes across as arrogant and petty. Until he proves he can get it done, I don't think most people would be willing to tolerate him. Hence, why he has been fired twice in 4 (?) years.

Hell, Saban has two crystal balls and is still ripped for his attitude.
