Actually, in 1997 Carl Reese had LSU in a variation of the 4-2-5 at certain times. That same year he used a 3-3-5 with a newly installed blitz package during LSU's upset of #1 Florida.

Parcells/belichek and their many followers call it "big nickel" when you use three safeties and 2 corners. This is what the giants used vs the bills and pats vs the rams in the super bowls when they shut down the running games (thurman thomas and marshall faulk).

No use in arguing the terminology with LE and SFP. They're the resident experts around here.

I live in Dallas, keep up with college football and I have no idea who TCU's defensive coordinator is.
Their head coach used to be their defensive coordinator and to be honest I assumed he was still very involved with the defense.

LSU fans keep throwing around their DCs name, but doesn't he use a non-traditional (4-2-5) scheme?
i think that plan could backfire, even with our weak LBs and large # of safties. it could work, but it is a complete overhaul of philosophy
Are you kidding? You mean putting a defense out there that plays to our strengths would be bad?

Don't question the brilliance of SFP. This guy has all the answers and could more than likely walk out onto the field and get results if he quit his day job tomorrow.

I would do backflips if Chad Jones was on the field in our base defense like a 4-2-5.
