Does the SEC commissioner (Mike Slive?) have any say during a HC hiring process?

I don't know, the man wields more power than any other conference commissioner. Kind of reminds me of David Stern in that context.

It would be in his interest to block a hire if it threatened to devalue the conference as a product.

Word on Twitter is that he met with Petrino, was impressed, and is fine with an SEC school rehiring him.
