after the bowl game lead any of you to believe that Miles has his guy and he's an NFL assistant? The NFL season ends almost exactly when the bowl game is played and it would allow him to let his assistant's get there bonus, not confuse the shite out of the players with new terminology, and still give him time to recruit the remaining kids he wants to run his defense.

Just a thought, what say you?

Could be a NFL guy or someone who has a verbal to us if he doesn't get a HC gig -- i.e D. Walker.

Makes sense to me. The other option would be from a school still playing for something major and which the individual and Les agreed to keep it silent until afterward.

It would make no sense to forego three weeks of valuable practice/familiarization in hopes of achieving an 8-5 record. Don't look back Les - look ahead!

I guess I missed the memo. I didn't hear Miles say anything about hiring new coaches. What I read was he was going to evaluate and make adjustments. That leads me to think he'll move Peveto somewhere and leave Mallory as DC. Or not. Point is, nothing official from LSU or Miles about hiring new coaches. I hope that's not the way it finally shakes down.

Not necessarily. Could be a guy who's currently employed and has to coach a bowl game himself. Could be that he's protecting his current staff of coaches. Could be that he's protecting the recruiting class.

Could be a combination of factors. Once the change is announced, a lot of us will come back to the board much smarter because we will be able to say, "So that's why we waited...", but, in all honesty, without a vacancy (no one has been terminated, as of yet, and no one has quit for another job) how Les is handling the situation is the right way to deal with people.

ETA: The report (if true) that he has not interviewed Chavis for the vacancy leads me to believe that he has already made a selection, and that there is an agreement in principle.

I truely believe the wait is to allow the coaches to receive there bonus's and to not confuse the players with new terminology before the bowl game. I don't think Les will keep the current coaches in place but don't think he will clean house either. I think there will be a completely new DC and Peveto will leaveto become NSU HC and Mallory goes back to DB coach.

I truly believe this long wait is a mistake, one Miles made last year with Pelini's departure, and which he covered up with the co-DC Malveto fiasco. Then the 2008 season came. The longer this goes undone, the more it starts to smell to me like a twisted version of Malveto, part deux.

UPDATE: However, if the rumors are true and Mallory is headed to UNMEX, then the worst case is that Peveto can't find a job and we're stuck with him as DC. I don't think that would happen. So I'm thinking there might be a light of hope at the end of this dark tunnel after all.
