Dewayne Walker - what's his style?

Anyone got any scoop on his style of defense, success rate, etc.? I don't watch much UCLA football. Do his DBs play off the receivers, does he bring heat to the QB, etc.?

He attacks in both the passing and running game. Not necessarily blitzing though, the DL get a lotta sacks and TFL.

Typically, from what I have seen, he plays an aggessive style D that we love here at LSU. The UCLA/USC game in 2006 when they upset USC was nothing short of a defensive masterpiece in my opinion.
And more importantly, all of his defenses tackle very well, which is a major area of work on our D.

If it comes down to him and Robinson, do you think that Walker is a better fit for our personnel? I'm worried that Robinson's bend but don't break style of defense won't be much of a change from what we have now...and that will be the reason Miles might prefer him.

is that what he runs? seems like it broke a lot at Syracuse

Exactly. I'm not that familiar with him, but of the two, Walker employs a much more aggressive scheme, at least from what I've seen. I've seen enough of the Tepper/Malleveto passive style of defense to last me a lifetime. If that's what Robinson would bring then LSU needs to just say neaux to Joe.

Walker may not have the most "experience" between him and the likes of Chavis, Robinson, etc.
However, his style of play fits our players the best I think. And from what I can ascertain, he is at the TOP of Miles list. I think we made a run at him last year but he wanted to stay on the West Coast.
IF he doesn't get a coaching job this year, I think he comes to LSU to enhance his rep. UCLA is still a couple of years away from really being competitive. At LSU, the players and talent are here. He just needs to bring it all together.

If Walker is cut from the same cloth as Carol (there is every reason to think so), then his base scheme will be a 4-3 under.
USC, Carol and thoughts on the 4-3
Notice the reference to Kiffin, who is known for the 4-3, Tampa 2.

I don't watch much UCLA football either, but from looking at the stats, it appears his style is to give up a shite ton of points.
If we hire this guy, it'll be interesting to see all of the excuses/explanations on just why that is.
