Now in my perfect LSU football world, Les Miles would pull a Sean Payton here and take some of his own salary and find a good quarterbacks coach and let Crowton do what he does best, run an offense, not coach the quarterback.
This tells us how little you really know about football and college football in particular.
You can only have 10 coaches including your head coach. Teams like UF can have QB coaches only because their head coach (Meyer) actually run the offense. Les doesn't run anything and so he's a lots coaching spot.
Furthermore, if your OC can't coach a position, he's worthless. Even Pelini, who had no specific position for coaching on the defense, basically was the DB coach.

Sorry lsugirl, but I am not buying that which you are selling. We, as loyal fans do not have enough knowledge of what actually transpires on a daily basis within the program to be able to say what (exactly) the problem is. But we can say the system needs to improved in order to be a championship caliber team. Ultimately, the blame rests on the shoulders of the Head Coach. Therefore, the Head Coach should ask Crowton to leave. Or, Coach Crowton should have enough savvy to know that the longer he stays at LSU the lower his coaching stock goes.

A QB recruit's dad gets all wet talking about Crowton and I don't understand why. Yes, fire the mental midget!

I see your continuing to perpetuate your lie Genuine. Good to see you have nothing better to do then spread bullshite about other posters in your free time.

I don't particular like the jabs to my football knowledge, I know I am a girl but good gosh people! I didn't know the rule about the coaches so I apologize.
I get your point guys, I really do. I just don't think that firing Crowton solves any of the offensive problems.
I see the problems with Jefferson, but I think he can be an affective quarterback with instruction. Will he be the best quarterback of the decade? No, but he has general potential...
I wasn't always happy with some of the play calling either, but it isn't like Crowton had much to work with. There wasn't one consistent thing in the offense.
My biggest thing with play calling and Crowton was the neglect of Trindon Holliday.

Shitty options to the short side of the field are a problem.
Crowton calls those.
How will firing Crowton not fix that?

I agree with you lsugirl, Crowton shouldn't be fired he should be shot for crimes against football. He took fantastic talent and made it look like the worst conglomeration of ineptness ever witnessed in a major football program. We have several potential NFL caliber offensive players and they were not utilized in any way that took advantage of their talents. This SOB shouldn't be coaching pee wee football much less at my Alma mater

Crowton's scheme didn't put JJ in a position to succeed. That's a problem, and one that should have been fixed early on.

lsugirl,
Posters on this site can be brutal. Try not to take it personal. The point I was trying to make is that the Head Coach will not be fired this year. Most agree that would be premature.
But most agree that a change is necessary. Soooo... the OC must take the fall.
Coach Miles was and Offensive Line coach for 11 years, an Offensive Coordinator for 2 years and a TE coach for 2 years. The only way we will ever know if the problem is Miles, is to get rid of Crowton.

The longer the time Crowton is at LSU the shorter the time Miles will be at LSU. Crowton is a albatross around Mile's neck, if he doesn't cast him off he will drown.

Crowton shouldn't be fired...
Incorrect statement.
Even a high school coach has better sense than to run the option to the short side of the field, much less allow a QB not capable of properly executing the option to run the option play. Also, LSU has more talent than any other SEC football team and the talent isn't being utilized properly. Who's fault is that you say? The offensive coordinator! Crowton needs to go. I never thought that LSU could hire a OC worse than Jimbo Fischer, but they did.
Nuff said.
