Can you imagine the Yankee's using the Tom Emanski instructional video's to train their championship teams.

Besides the easy comeback joke I highly suspect..the KC Royals have actually brought him in for spring training with their guys before.

P.S. At 300M, a vet squad of All-Stars like the Yankees better not need but maybe a refresher course or two in the Spring?

Not a BS question...Looking for some insight.

When you watch JJ, what do you see that needs improvement in his throwing motion. To me, it does not look anything like what Slack has in videos, etc..

Your thoughts?

JJ seems to have a slower release and a very high release point. Almost to where his ball is thrown on a downward angel on some intermediate passes. I've always thought thats why you see some drops from the WR's.

I think JJ has come a long way in terms of mechanics in the last couple of years. I think his motion isn't great but he is not a great qb. He struggles in reading defenses in moving in the pocket. In my experience this is something that can be drilled for years and never set in for some qbs.

I am not on here to defend GC or JJ. I was trying to make a point that many coaches steal ideas and methods from one another. We, as tiger fans, should be happy that our coaches take the time to learn from the best and most respected out there. People on here love Dana Holgerson and Mike Leach, they spend hardly any time on qb mechanics. SO there is a million ways to do it. But don't we shouldn't be mad a LSU coaching is trying to get better at coaching

Thanks for the insight.

Would you put Slack's Academy as a good source of training for middle school and early high school QB's or would you recommend someone else? Anyone in South Louisiana?

And I agree on learning from others, just wish our OC was the one doing the teaching.

Crowton sucks at developing QB's. This should not surprise anyone.

lsutiger575 is very correct about what he is saying. Qb mechanics and offensive philosopy are two totalty different things. Darrin Slack is one of the best "Fundamental Coaches" around. There are very few people who teach QB fundamentals, but it has nothing to do with reads and progressions in a particular offense. Also there is only so much practice time for a QB to get better once he gets to college. These college QB's have to work hard on their own to get better. NCAA rules prohibit any coaching out of season by the university coaches to work with them. That is one of the big reasons Tim Tebow had to hire some one to help him with his throwing motion after he played at Florida, so he could get ready for the NFL. The NCAA has a 20 Hour a week rule in place during the season. Out of season the coaches can not work with their players, only strength and conditioning coaches can work with them. By the way, the 20 hour a week rule is one of the things Rich Rod got in trouble for breaking at Michigan. The rule gets broken all he time, but not on the field it gets broken more in meeting time. Not many coaches at the Major D1 level work with their players during the off season(if they do, they are violating major NCAA rules) At a major powerhouse like LSU they will not take that risk. Most of these schools will try to sign QB's that can already throw the ball like the program needs them too.
