Jeff Fisher makes $7 million. I'd rather pay $8 million and hire a top tier NFL coach.

You mention wanting a top tier NFL coach and then provide Jeff Fisher as an example?

We'll probably be bowl eligible most of the time time with Mr. .500 as our coach. In fact, we'll probably have a standing invite for whatever shitty bowl takes the 9th place SEC team.

Pay what they deserve to get and give bonuses for potential. There are only 3 coaches that are doing well enough right now to demand a 7m salary, Meyer, Saban, Harbaugh. Jimbo is a great coach but it's not like he's on a hot streak right now so his price should not be going up as high as it is.

Meyer makes slightly over $6 million. Saban makes less than $7 million. Fisher does not fit this pay rate

If you want to be a big boy program, you have to pay big boy money. The salary line for top coaches is going up. LSU has to react accordingly. If not, LSU will get what they pay for.

Jimbo would get paid what the market is willing to pay. There are lots of buyers right now at programs that have not terribly patient alumni.

Fisher is not going to uproot himself just for the epic splendor of coaching LSU. He needs to be incentivized.
