Its such a joke. Coaches like Charlie Strong would be idiots to not take the Texas job.

quote:agreed. Should be taken with a grain of salt. Every coach denying interest in the Texas job is full of shite.

Why? He has a great gig at Louisville. Great facilities, paid very VERY well, fans who love him, his players love him, etc. Plus the move to the ACC is a huge deal. All this while being the coach at a non traditional power without the crazy expectations
Why would he be "stupid" to stay?

Almost any coach headed to a bowl or nfl playoff game will deny interest. It would be stupid to do otherwise.

This, including Saban.

However I firmly stand behind my public denial of interest in the UT job.

Kind of my point. My ultimate point is coaches who go out of their way to deny interest in a job.
Its almost pointless for a reporter to ask a coach directly about a job opening. No coach wants to destroy his team's morale, especially if he might come back.

Well, they can't all take the job...

Not necessarily true. Some coaches may genuinely not have interest in a position. Its still a joke because we never know. Its the same answers whether they are interested or not.

people underestimate how hard it is for coaches to leave established situations for the clustrfk that is Texas Football right now.

If Saban was interested, he would be there already. So you'd be wrong.

Nope. I'm just an a-hole. I'm just pointing out his error.

Todd Graham has announced today that he is in it for the long haul at Arizona State.
Probably means he is deep into negotiations :P

No doubt
A coach's verbal long term commitment to a school is about as valid as an AD's vote of confidence
